Bio:
Carl joined St John Ambulance in 1987 as a volunteer and has spent 34 years delivering first aid and care in his community and across the country. Having the opportunity to provide first aid and care provisions in India and Singapore as well as supporting the delivery of training in Malaysia.\r\n\r\nOver the years Carl has held a number of senior volunteer roles, leading large groups of volunteers delivering our youth programmes and supporting the training, leadership and deployment of volunteers at local and national events.\r\n\r\n Carl joined St John as an employee 16 years ago, bringing a youth work and training development portfolio to the charity. For many years Carl led a number of schools and community training initiatives both locally and nationally, provide training delivery leadership on a number of national campaigns. Four years ago he joined the internal training team and managed training delivery.\r\n\r\n As the Head of Training for St John, Carl is accountable for the design, development, delivery and quality assurance of a portfolio spanning more than 50 functional areas, this is supported by a team of 1,200 people, many of whom are volunteers.\r\n\r\n During the Covid-19 pandemic Carl has managed a wider team of St John people to ensure those delivering service in their communities are competent and confident in a new range of skills.
